Weekly Photo Challenge:

Contrast –  the difference, or use of differences, between the lightest and the darkest parts of something, e.g. to create a special effect in a painting or photograph.

In my choice of photos for the challenge contrast this week, I decided to showcase these roses that I have been taking photos of at different stages of drying. These roses were part of my Valentine flower bouquet. The drying roses reminded me of the impermanence of life … AND … that there can be beauty at any stage of our lives. Mother Nature can provide great lessons if we are willing to see them.

Life without “Love” is like a tree without blossoms or fruit.

Not where I breathe, but where I  “LOVE” –  I  “LIVE”.

Love one another, but make not a bond of “Love”; let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your soul.       Kahil Gibran

Izzy hooray you ‘re back! I hope you are rested and have had a good time. I love your photos as always, the middle one best I think for its composition. Also the Kahil Gibran, so wonderful!

    • These roses were part of a Valentine bouquet. I decided
to capture their beauty at different stages. Come back and
      read what I’ve added.
Thanks, Gilly – you are always so supporive. I realli appreciate
      it.
      Hugs, Izzy
P.S. Do you know why certain words pop up in a different
colored font. I suppose something new has been added … mmmmmm

Any time, and well deserved. I’ve actually visited many times,( as I do all the bloggers who have commented or liked mine), especially since you are always kind enough to leave a comment or like on one of mine. Sadly I have been horrible at returning the favor :-( Rest assured it isn’t because I haven’t liked what I have seen. Pure, inexcusable laziness, simple as that. A caracter flaw that I’m doing my absolute best to rectify. I mean really, you took your valuable time to at least click the like button, pretty darn selfish of me not to do the same. I am sorry for that.

      • Oh, Please … no apologies are necessary or admonitions. We all have time restraints. I would call it “Time absorbed by Creatvity” … you are an artist of the photographic kind, after all. ~~~~ : – )

A rather sad picture of a rose, but an excellent collection of pictures. thanks for share..;)

    • Your weleome, Cobbie – I captured the rose at
different stages of drying. I thought the contrast
of the light and dark went well with the challenge.
A rose drying can be sad but the rose can, also, last longer.
I have had it for 6 weeks.
      Thanks for stopping by ….

Beee-utiful my friend. Dried roses live on in crafts and such.

    • HHeeehheeee – Thanks, Margie. I love you rfun spelling.
I love dried flowers. When Iget fresh flowers, I enjoy watching
them as they dry. I have given dried roses in handmade sachets
with rose oil or lavender oil and have had many compliments.
I just dislike throwing the dried flowers away.
      Glad you enjoy this post.

This is very good… I love the fading glow of it. ;-)

  13. Beautiful and love the details captured :)

  14. copperman says:

you got extremely close. to the point that all the veins are showing. keep up the close work.

  15. Izzy, leave it to you to find the beauty in drying roses. They always depress me, but maybe now I’ll see them differently… after all, I, too, am a “fading rose,” my lines deeper each day – and Lex loves me more with every crease. Your photos actually lifted my spirits today, and for that, among so many other blessings you give me, I thank you. Peace, Amer and here’s a laugh:

It’s women’s week and I would say the subject in the photo is but apt. On the contrary, I would have wanted a vibrant flower. I got the point though why and I love how you put the point across.

  21. Lovely rose photos! I also keep mine and let them dry, and I take pictures when they’re fresh, but I haven’t taken pictures of them through the stages of drying. Great idea, especially for illustrating contrast this week!

  22. Even as the colors faded, there is still so much beauty and interest with the fading rose flower. Like life and age, beauty is timeless. Every person no matter how old they are are beautiful. Real beauty is in the heart. Have a lovely day my friend. Inspiring post…thanks.

    • A beautiful rose will get rave reviews and everyone will love it …. BUT …. who will love the one who is not so pretty. A lesson about loving all things despite their visual appearance. I like to showcase the less perfect.
      Thanks … Island Traveler. ~~~ : – )
      Blessings,
      Isadora

  23. Anyone could snap a photo of a vibrant yellow rose. Only you, Izzy, could treat us with a softening, withering yellow rose–beautiful still in its waning hours…

    • The days and the hours that will pass us all by. To love
and accept our fragile beings as we age makes us stronger.
There is beauty in all things even the ones with flaws.
Thank you, Lorna …. you are a gem.
      Hugs,
      Izzy xoxo

  24. Roses and puppies – so adorable when they start out… then a gradual shift to something different and unique!

  25. quite nice, Isadora. they do look beautiful–like crafted paper flowers. I love your message in the beginning too.

  26. Love your interpretation. Inspiring post and great photos!
