Weekly Photo Challenge: Everyday Life

A new trend in advertising has popped up. Recently, I’ve seen this everywhere I drive. People dressed in various costumes are holding up signs to entice the consumer to places of business. They dance around while twirling their signs. Living in Florida, I can’t imagine how unbearably hot it is to be in these costumes.

Everyday Life - This challenge is all about people and the things they do every day: working, eating, drinking, chatting, dreaming, walking, exercising,  or any of those things we do all the time without really thinking about it.

Cool photo, but he does look hot. He even has his tongue hanging out. Thanks for sharing this everyday shot.

    BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!

  2. My son played the role of his college mascot (a Great Dane) during summer orientations. I worried about him getting heat exhaustion. That’s what I think about when I see these people in these heavy, hot costumes–and they always seem to be out in hot weather, never cold…

I bet they aren’t paid much either…Alex wasn’t. And it can be a thankless, dangerous job (especially if you have low visibility and you are in a street with high traffic)!

    • I don’t know anyone that is doing this but I think they pay very little too. They seem to use young kids that are having a hard time getting jobs. It is brutally hot in those costumes. We’ve been to Disney World and have seen Mickey Mouse taken away from heat exhaustion. Now – that is truamatic. lolol
Actually, they are trying to ban the businesses from doing this as it distracts drivers. They have young teens dressed in really short shorts and you know how that goes. ~~~~~ : – )

Cute photo for the theme, Isadora. :)

We also have that kind of trend here (in Thailand) whenever a store opens or a new product is introduced. There are mascots dancing and posing for photos with their customers. Plus there are sexy ladies in miniskirts who hand in brochures or product samples :-D

I also have people dressing up in my town. I guess its a trend.

Does it work? are you enticed? ;-)
A good choice for your everyday shot!

    • To be honest, I don’t know anyone that has a business with this
type of advertising. I suppose it does because they’re everywhere.
Usually, they are young people. They have some young girls in really
short shorts sometimes. There has been talk to banish them from doing
it as it distracts drivers. So far, I haven’t frequented businesses that have them.
Although, this restaurant is one we have been going to since we moved to
Florida. It is an old Florida style place which isn’t fancy but has terrific home
style food especially biscuits and gravy. ~~ : – )

Probably works better with kids :-)

  8. cobbies69 says:

    Nice job to have…:)

  9. eof737 says:

This is wonderfully funny… Good job Isa! :-)

    • It can be humorous to see these characters on corners trying o bring in patrons.
I’m just happy the weather is getting cooler for them.
i’m so happy you liked it. I enjoyed finding the photo. It seemed like something a
      little different. hanks …!!!

  10. Honestly, I too think the same. I can’t bear the thought of how much heat and discomfort these people have to endure to earn a decent living. I just wish they are more comfortable. They are an inspiration though. How many out there who refuses to work and makes excuses not too. There are some people out there who don’t find hard and honest work appealing and wants to make it easy by being a burden for others or into crimes. An eye opener post. Thanks.

    • It’s so true, IT. Many young people with college degress are doing this
to make money as they have very little choice. There are no jobs in the
fields they’ve studied. At least, they have a little money to help them along.
It’s sad when jobs are scarce. BUT – something is sure better than nothing.
It is hard out there right now. ~~~~ : – (
