Nurture Yourself – Clarity of Heartbreak and Pain

In keeping with my word a month to Nurture Yourself – the word for May is Clarity. To have clarity (claridad, limpidez – Spanish) is to be free from cloudiness, obscurity and blurred thoughts. It’s a state of mind quality that is clear; transparent and lucid.

Clarity helps us to be present in our lives. Simply being present is a gift we can use to nurture ourselves. When we can go deep into our thoughts and feel heartbreak –the heartbreak which we have hidden – then we can open up to love. A love you will give to yourself completely. Looking for it outside of yourself is futile until you have nurtured yourself with it.

Trumpet

The trumpet is one of the main instruments in the brass section of an orchestra. Trumpets are also used in jazz bands.

The cornet is a brass instrument very similar to the trumpet, distinguished by its conical bore, compact shape, and mellower tone quality. The most common cornet is a transposing instrument in B♭.

Like the trumpet and all other modern brass wind instruments, the cornet makes a sound when the player vibrates (“buzzes”) the lips in the mouthpiece, creating a vibrating column of air in the tubing. The frequency of the air column’s vibration can be modified by changing the lip aperture or “embouchure”. In addition, the column of air can be lengthened by engaging one or more valves, thus lowering the pitch.

Joe “King” Oliver, was the first important recorded jazz cornetist. He greatly influenced Louis Armstrong, who played in his band.

In early jazz, Louis Armstrong was well known for his virtuosity and his improvisations. In old style jazz bands the cornet was preferred to the trumpet, but from the swing era onward it has been largely replaced by the louder, more piercing trumpet. wikipedia

At times, it’s difficult and emotionally painful when we realize that we’re hiding or covering up feelings we need to face. The fact is that even though we know these things are in need of clarity in order to be happy avoiding them is less traumatic to us. Hurtful as it is, avoiding issues, which require us to search our hearts for closure is of major importance. We’re hardest on ourselves when it comes to traumatic incidents.
We believe that we hadn’t done something to prevent whatever has occurred. We hide, shut down, deny, criticize and close our emotions to feelings. If we can find the clarity to see these events, you’re taking the first step to nurturing yourself to a healthy emotional life.
We need to be grateful for our lives. Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion into clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.
And so … tomorrow is a blank page, just waiting to be filled with your dreams …. All you have to do is be yourself and live the story of your own unique life.
Be PROUD … Be CONFIDENT … and most of all …. Be HAPPY!!!!

There’s been an abundance of SPAM sneaking around my computer. Yes, they’re little snake-like creatures we can’t see. They create havoc of every imaginable kind. I have no clue how they do it and I have a pretty good idea that no one else does, either. If they do know they are keeping it quite hush-hush. The computer repairman looks you straight in the eye and says, “These things just happen”. Really? I felt like a cartoon character with a big question mark above my head. Aren’t Firewalls and Web protection supposed to prevent these little villains?

My computer froze on my homepage with what seemed like quite an official letter from the FBI. The letter read that I was in violation of paying my fines to them. If I didn’t submit $500.00 dollars to them I would be taken to federal prison. There was a drop down with the amount on it and directions on how to get this money to them. Well, my first thoughts were whether or not I had sent in my tax money that I owed good old Uncle Sam. As all good Americans, I instructed our accountant to submit our business and home taxes and had paid my fees owed. After checking on all that my second thought was that I could use a nice vacation with three hot meals and a nice library, exercise room and television lounge room. Then, I got angry and thought that whoever was doing this was a creepy low life individual that has nothing to do except create chaos in my business and home life.

There was other SPAM messages from time to time like:
1. Dobrowolskiqkn, obviously, not a real name thinks that I should be working out with this new method of exercise called TRX. A bit excessive for someone my age.

2. And it’s evident that, horny hot, has been peeking into my bedroom because he –she – it – seems to think they know what I might need to do to have a better sex life.

3. Seemingly, Anita902, thinks that I must have severe back pain and a bit of a nervous condition as she has recommended I take some Ultram and Vicoden. Do they not know these prescriptions are addictive?

4. Gaming Site- to play video games. I have no desire to play games.

5. Lottery Site – so as to gamble. My hard earned money taken away with foolishness. I’ll pass.

6. Hacker Site – to avoid computer hacking. HUH?

7. Transsexual – Stripper XXX Site – this left me speechless and with eyes that never wanted to see again. There was body parts showing that weren’t meant to be seen in public.

I wish I could say that these are SPAMS funny but after a few 100 times of deleting them from my SPAM box it gets a bit old. In addition, when it takes over my computer and prevents me from running my business I feel frustrated. I believe technology is important but something has to be done to prevent this from happening.

When there are a great many stressful issues, past or present, that burdens our minds, clarity becomes veiled blurs. Simple decisions or choices become overwhelming. Our navigation through these decisions brings us down; especially, if they don’t turn out the way we expected. We doubt ourselves. Sometimes, we can’t decide what we want to do with our lives, our careers or our relationships.

Clarity of mind is having clarity of passion, too; this is why a great and clear mind loves ardently and sees distinctly what it loves. Sitting quietly and having moments of deep meditation helps us to see through those murky foggy places that need clearing. In opening your mind’s eye to clarity, we begin to become a more radiant luminous you.

If you’re reading this, you have survived your entire life up until this point. You’ve survived traumas, heartbreak, devastation, and the different phases of your life. And here you are …..

Are you taking time to lift your veil of darkness in order to have more clarity?

On April 26, 2013, one of the great legends of country western music was asked to leave his family and fans in order to sing for his creator.

It has been well-documented that he was a man who lived a hard life. For years, he was in newspapers because of his wild living. Drinking, drugs and woman were what he felt he needed to fill an emptiness he had. A great many of his song lyrics speak to those demons of heartache and pain. Eventually, he changed those wicked ways when he met his wife of 30 years, Nancy Sepulveda.

He was known as The Possum a name given to him by a well-known DJ, and No Show Jones for his lack of arriving at many concerts and show dates. I was fortunate to have seen George Jones at one of those almost no-show events. A very small local club on Long Island, New York was featuring him and another lead-in singer by the name of Merle Kilgore. They were making their way to a big concert and along the way were stopping at local places to try out some new material. Lucky us …

It turned out that he was going to go on right after Merle Kilgore did his set. Unfortunately, he had to do three sets as George hadn’t arrived yet.

It was now almost 11:00 p.m. and the show had started at 8:00 p.m. naturally, the audience was anxious to see George Jones. It was beginning to get a bit loud and sadly uncomfortable for this lead act. George Jones did show up. It was almost midnight. He sang and he sang and he sang. He sang his heart out for the crowd and actually apologized for being late. He was a great performer. He will be missed by his fans.

Quincy Jones – aka – Q

If you’re someone who listens to music, you’ve heard Ouincy Jones. In fact, what you’ve heard are many of the artists he discovered and made into famous celebrities. Turning 80 this year, he was born Quincy Delight Jones Jr. in Chicago, Illinois on March 14, 1933 to Sarah Frances and Quincy Delight Jones, Sr. He attended Berklee College of Music and is known to his friends as Q.

In a musical career that has spanned six decades, Quincy Jones has earned his reputation as a renaissance man of American music. Jones has distinguished himself as a bandleader, a solo artist (trumpeter), a songwriter, a producer, an arranger, a composer of film in addition to music, and a record label executive, and outside of music, he’s also written books, produced major motion pictures, and helped create television series.
