Valentine’s Day is almost here. My husband and I don’t eat desserts except for occasions. It’s part of the gift for the occasion. My husband loves cherry pie.  I always try to get him a slice or mini pie on Valentine’s Day. Each time he finishes these yummy desserts he has a look of “Regret” all over his face. This is why I chose these photo’s.

“Broken”

While on vacation in Grenada we were driving around, which definitely can be a challenge there, when suddenly I was overcome by the sight of this man sitting on the side of the road.

“Stop”, I shouted.

Startled my husband stopped the car assuming he was going to hit something or someone he hadn’t seen.

I said, “Look, pointing to this man. Please find a place to park”.

He did.

We walked several streets to find where this man was sitting. Standing next to him, he was unaware of my presence until I said, “Hello, I see you have some shells for sale”.

Tear filled eyes with a hazy glow pierced my face. I felt sucked in by his sadness. He was dirty with a profound odor; of the unsanitary due to lack of facilities type of odor. Yet, I felt compelled to talk to him. In one hand he had a plastic cup of rum; the other hand held a blunt; doobie; marijuana joint.

After briefly talking about his shells, I told him, “I noticed he was drinking and smoking marijuana at this early morning hour - 10:00 a.m.”.

Smirking he said, “There are no set times for me to kill my pain”.  I didn’t dare ask what his sorrow was.    I asked, “Does it help your pain?”

No words were said. Just a tilt of the head in my direction with a curved smile that lead me to believe he didn’t think I’d understand.

We spoke for a short time. I donated to his sales with a little extra which I recommended he use for food or shelter. I left the shell for him to sell to someone else.

As I began to walk away, he took another puff from his big sweet scented herb and shouted, “Hey, Pretty Lady” …!!!????

I turned.

He continued, “Say ‘Hello’ to my angel up in heaven,  I know you’ll meet her there one day”.  “Tell her to wait for me, I’ll be with her before long”.

Definition of Broken: forcibly separated into two or more pieces; fractured; incomplete; being in a state of disarray; disordered.

A Positive Path for Life

The second person to sign up for my blog updates was Victoria C. Slotto. She is a very talented and brilliant poet.  I had never written poetry until I started to read her poetry. I was inspired. She is a master of it.

But this is not about her poetry. This is about her newly released book called “Winter is Past”. A book I have just purchased and received my personally signed copy of. I feel that a great poet has to be a great writer. I received it today and am anxious to begin reading it. If I seem to have disappeared from the blog world it will be due to the distraction of her book which I am waiting with bated breath to begin. Let’s all gather behind our blog friends and encourage them by purchasing a book.

Have you been feeling incredibly fortunate lately??? I have. Usually, I do not believe that I am going to be the winner of any contest; therefore, I don’t ever take part in anything that says, “You can be a winner if ….”

When I received an e-mail about the possibility of winning a book by one of my favorite poets, Anthony Rando, I almost ignored it. A little voice said, “Just try. You never know”. I had put the book title on my birthday wish list for my husband to look at later and possibly purchase it for me for that occasion. You can’t imagine my joy and happiness when I received an e-mail from Anthony Rando and Epic Tales that said, “You are the winner”. I am extremely grateful for the guidance I received that led me to participate. I hope that all of you will go to his blog and read some of his wonderful poetry or, perhaps, purchase his very beautiful book of poetry.
