Happy Mother’s Day to All …. !!!    For those of you who are blessed to have your Mother’s with you, may Mother’s Day with her be filled with immense joy….!!!!  For those of you have lost your Mother’s, may your day be filled with the precious memories of her.

   “A Mother’s Journey”

There is a path Mother’s must travel with their children. Sometimes, the path is filled with obstacles. A Mother never stops but continues to forge forward to teach. She must leave her children with the tools of life they will need to carry-on regardless of the sacrifices.

A young mother sets out on this path of life. She is lost and inept to know what to do or where to go. Her youth gives her strength to go on but her doubts keep her motionless. Her children need her. She has to travel through whatever comes her way.

At night, she looks up at the stars and says, “Is this the way?”

Immediately, she knows. This is the way and the road will be hard. In the end, she will see the rewards. It will take time to reach this place. She will know when she has arrived. The gift of her labors will be realized.

A young mother wants to believe that it can be a happy time, too. She rejoices in the playing of her children. She is grateful to have them to feed, bath, clothe and teach. They are the sunshine of her life. She thinks, “Nothing can be more enchanting than this”.

When nights are dark and stormy; cold and dreary; and her children shake with fear.  She comes to their bed and draws them close to her. Her strong arms hugging them; helps their fears subside. They feel safe because she is there. In the morning, they rise to her glowing smile. She has made them feel safe and loved.

As they grew older, she knows there will be other hills to climb. The hills turn into bigger mountains they have never encountered before. The young mother is getting older, too. The climbs are more difficult for all of them. The children know she was weary. She tells them that nothing was impossible. They can do whatever they need to do. She knows they are strong and can weather any storm. She knows the world will be harsh. But, she has taught them well. She knows they have listened.  Her compassion, hope, guidance and unconditional love will carry them through.

Seasons come and seasons go. Children transform into adults. Mother’s grow old, bent and small. In her heart, she knows they will have courage to go on. She knows they are strong. It is getting to the time she has to let them go.

She looks up, once again, and says, “This is the best I could do”. The stars twinkle for her; a message for her to see.

The next mountain is rough and jagged. The edges are sharp and painful. This climb is the hardest. Now, they have to lift and carry her up and give her strength. The same way she had given strength to them.

Soon, they will reach their destination. They can see her face is glowing. She has reached her last stop and is ready to go home. The gates are shiny and golden. The clouds are pearly white. She has reached the end of her journey. She has arrived home tonight. The hills and valleys have been difficult but she has made it home. Her children hold their heads up high with a pride they can-not contain for their mother has given them something they cannot explain.

Radiance surrounds her as she walks towards those golden gates. She blows a tender kiss to them to help them carry-on.

They whisper, “Mother, we will miss you but we are not alone”. For always, you will be in our hearts in the precious memories we’ve known.

      Jakes Sunday Challenge – Vehicle

                                                                    “The Banana Bus”

As soon as you arrive in Aruba, you are confronted with these very colorful and vibrantly decorated buses. They are decorated with all types of sayings and island flair. This one was festooned with beads and Iguana. It seems the island of Aruba is being presently being overcome with Iguana. They are not allowed to be killed. They do have people who catch them for the sole purpose of selling them to restaurants and food establishments. If you are interested in eating them they have them at several restaurant menus and roadside stands. Not being a fan of meat anyway I did not attempt to try it. If you ask anyone what they taste like the answer is standard, “They taste like chicken”. I don’t think they look like chicken … do you???

The “Banana Bus” is a tour bus that can take you to several locations depending on what you are interested in. We took a tour of the island of Aruba and could not believe how much it looks like the southwest. Their rainfall is minimal so the terrain is very dry and cactus abound. Back to the bus – it is as festive inside as it is outside. The music is festive island music and if you are interested you can have island type beverages; either virgin or alcoholic: my beverage recommendation – water. It is scorching hot and dehydration can set in very quickly.

“Dale Chihuly – Unfocused”

    “Life is an Illusion”

Several years ago, we visited the exhibit of world renowned glass artist, Dale Chihuly, at “The Gallery” at the City Center in Las Vegas. He was delighted to have been invited to exhibit at this dramatic new exhibition venue. The 4,350 square foot space features a diverse representation of Chihuly’s dynamic sculptures, drawings, and prints. Dale Chihuly is recognized for his use of color, fluid glass forms and large scale architectural installations. He has played a major role in bringing glass into the realm of contemporary art. Due to the lighting and the reflection of glass many of my photo’s developed in an unfocused way. For this challenge it turned out well. Enjoy ….

This award was bestowed upon me by Cobbie from

 http://cobbie69.wordpress.com/ .

I am a little behind on this award “Thank You”. I do very much appreciate each and every one I receive.  The second and third rules state that I must nominate blogger. I have chosen to give this award to the first 7 bloggers who comment on my award.

Quesitons to answer :

  1. Tell us about one of your most cherished childhood memories.
  2. Tell us about one of your most cherished memories with your child(ren). If you do not have children, then share one of your pet(s). If you do not have pets either, then one with niece(s), nephew(s), or any combination thereof.

  6. Tell us what you are doing in pursuit of achieving an attainable goal.
  7. Tell us about one person who had the best influence on you in your life (teacher, neighbor, friend, etc.)

My Answers to the above questions :

         1.    Childhood memory – playing outside fun games like jump rope, hop scotch and tag.

2.     Cherished memories with my children – putting up our Christmas tree every year on my eldest daughter’s birthday. It was always a party. It was our yearly open house.

3.    I learned from my Dad to study and work hard.

4.    I’ve tried to instill moral values in their lives. These are the things that keep you doing what is right.

5.    I had a great ride in the world of handmade silver jewelry making. Although somewhat retired now, I never tire of meeting some my customers and hearing how much they are enjoying my creations.

6.    My attainable goal is focused on creating an inner peace and tranquility in my daily life despite the chaos that may come my way. We are all here to learn from that turmoil. It is what helps us spiritually.

7.    One person who influenced me – A friend who shall remain nameless told me when I was in my 20’s that I would never be anything and that I had no significant importance. It spurred me on to become all that I could be. She was deleted out of my life, immediately, upon her statement.

                             “Ruby”

Her name was Ruby. She loathed it. The color a deep red; deep as the wounds she carried with her. She was tired of being told it was a strong color. The only thing she felt strongly about was her anger and resentment for her mother. A prostitute who wore red because the men she accompanied prized the color. Was this a joke she was playing on her? Ruby means nothing to me. It’s blood color; a sign of death. A death I would take pleasure in.

The doorbell rings. Flowers from my Tom arrive.

Oh no, red roses.

“Shelter”

“Traditional Mayan Hut”

We visited the pyramids at Chaccoban in Costa Maya, Mexico. This is an example of the traditional huts the Mayan lived in. The house was one rectangular room with rounded corners, no windows, and one central door built to face east. Sometimes there was another door that led to a second hut, used as both a kitchen and a chicken coup. In the traditional kitchens, women would cook on a grill set over three rocks. When the hammocks were hung, the main, single-room house was converted into a dormitory.

The floor in a Maya home was made of sascab, a foundation of gravel covered with white packed soil. The walls had a wood matrix that was covered with adobe, and then whitened with lime. Occasionally a house would have wooden baseboards.

Today, the family homes are commonly called palapas, the Mayan word for roof.

Lighting Up the Blogosphere # 7

      “Ocean Wave”               Costa Maya, Mexico

Watch the waves in the ocean. The higher the wave goes, the deeper is the wake that follows it.

One moment you are the wave, another moment, you are the hollow wake that follows.

Enjoy both … don’t get addicted to one.

Don’t say, “I would like to be on the peak always.”

It is not possible. Simply see the fact: it is not possible.

It never has happened and it will never happen.

It is simply impossible. It is not in the nature of things.

The – what to do?

Enjoy the peak while it lasts and, then, the valley when it comes.

What is wrong with the valley?

What is wrong with being low?

It is a relaxation.

A peak is an excitement.

Nobody can exist continuously in excitement.
